Bonkers
I'm really excited about both the new job (Responsibility!  Seniority!  Real Museum job!) and the holiday, but at the moment I am currently sweltering and amidst piles of clothes for packing (I have one suitcase for 'stuff for wearing to new job' another for 'stuff to wear on holiday' and contemplating one for 'stuff to take if room for wearing outside of work if it get cool' That's the one that may get left behind if not enough space on the grand house move.

I'm off on hols tomorrow, and then pick up keys for house a week today. Phone line is up and ordered broadband for there, so hopefully will be back online proper by then - in the meantime will am abusing the dongle that gives free mobile broadband that came with mum and dad's broadband... So I may or may not be around for a week or so.

I still need to sort out shoes for both options, wrap a birthday present thats coming with me on holiday, and load music on my ipod shuffle and big MP3 player.

And make sure I pack chargers for hols for the above, my phone and my camera.

I'm taking a bootfull of stuff (and some bits that are movable on the front seats!) with me, as i'm holidaying in Northumberland, so can drive down to Halifax, pick up keys, drop all my stuff (bar laptop, that's staying with me!) off, then drive home so I can fill up the car again with stuff (based on trail run I'll have a coffee table, armchair and chest of drawers in there, surrounded by other bits that surrounded it. I have boxes marked 1st wave (i.e have to go up the first weekend) and stuff marked '2nd' which can wait till mum and dad come up again in a fortnight.

Ooh, must remember to pack hair clips, for both options as well. And shoes, I have no shoes packed at all. Arrgh.

*feels all hot and bothered, but will get moving again in a minute...*

gwen OMG
Have I not posted that I have a new job?  Oops. my bad...  Some people on my flist were present when I got the phonecall, and had to put

It's very exciting I'm off to be a museums officer up in Yorkshire.  And a respon

This has meant in the last week I have been

a) house hunting  on wednesday. (successfully, deposit was paid yesterday).

b) car hunting on thursday (successfully, deposit was also paid yesterday.

I will be, as of next friday the proud owner of a shiny red Puegot 207.  It's diesel , so drives very like Mum's 206.  I do have to decide on a name.  The licence plate contains the letters M and OOJ, so it might have to be my mooch-mobile...  It looks like this one -  cgi.ebay.co.uk/2008-PEUGEOT-207-1.6-HDI-90-S_W0QQitemZ180364252554QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090603

Of course, the two above meant I spent the last day ringing round/web searching for insurances for the two, which although successful,  made my head hurt!

But, I'm still giddy about new job stuff!

Stupid other drivers

Youthink you've had a bad day RA
Just pottering about and calming down after a wee bit of a fright!

I went to go pick up my brother's girlfriend from the bus station tonight, and I was driving back, chatting as you do, when a car came screaming out from a side road, and past the side of the car - it must have been inches away from us, and doing at least 70-80 miles an hour.

I had a moment of 'was I not looking? I didn't see it, was I not paying enough attention', and then two police cars came in hot pursuit, followed 30 secs later by a third. Someone's been a naughty boy...

We were talking about how lucky we were - another 30 secs either way, and it would probably have hit us, and the speed it was going, it wouldn't have been pretty...

So, we were a bit shaken, but ok. However, I will be having chocolate tonight!

Also, am glad I'm not having to tell mum we're having to claim on her insurance -  it's bad enough as it is, after the idiots that went in the back last year!

The seemingly obligiatory Snow post

gwen OMG
We've got proper snow!  Not as much as they're seemingly getting down in the South, but enough that the village looked really pretty today when I went for a wee walk.

Pictures are  here picasaweb.google.co.uk/Heatherbelles/SnowyElstonFeb2009 if you want a gander.

I didn't build a snowman, I don't think there was quite enough to do that yet.  And I want to get someone to have a snowball fight with!

Cos everyone else is doing it

Give me tea
On the feeling sorry for myself, I have the worlds worst cold right now.

However on the principle of getting myself sorted before the travelling and interview at the end of the week, I have been to the Doctors, I'm not too wheezy apparently, but as I feel so crap, and I plaintively stated the need to appear human for my interview, not a snot monster, she's given me antibiotics to try and shift it. I'm just checking my email, and then I'm heading off for a nap.

I'm joining in the Icon meme, cortesy of Kaffyr, so here goes:
Meme instructions:
1. Reply to this post and I will pick five of your icons
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose if you damn well feel like it.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon glee.

Kaffyr picked the following icons:

1) Bonkers - Bonkers is a picture of a character from another TV series I've been a fan of. It's Ruth Evershed from MI5/Spooks. I seem to think she's wrestling with a table lamp at that point. She was one of my favourite characters from all the series. She's eccentric, geeky and a little bit bonkers, and who I want to grow to be. And I like the tagline, which also sums me up.

2) John in curlers (!) -
I ganked this from I forgot where, but it's a snippet from a BBC set of programmes that JB was in, all about musicals (lots of fairly well known west-end people performing songs from the shows, it was great). This particular moment was from a snippet just before John was going to sing 'I am what I am' and he was therefore camping it up dreadfully. Funny though. (and for the record, seeing him sing that live was a fabulous experience. Hope it does it on this tour too)

3) Jack and TMC - Made by searing_idolatry when I was bemoaning the fact I had no Torchwood icons. I like it, because it has both JB and the Millenium Centre in it. I like modern building when they look like that, not just boring glass boxes...

4) Pretty Gwen - because it's pretty and I like Gwen. Wish I could look like that.

5) Torchwood Girls - Because I like the expression on both Tosh and Gwen. They've obviously seen what the boys are up to and are unimpressed.
